The Conclusion of Hegel

The article examines Hegel’s philosophy at one of the neuralgic points at which its noetic, critical and ultimately also theological content is decided. It therefore aims to interpret the final passages of the Berlin Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences in the 1830 Grundrisse, with a particular focus on the three (substantive) conclusions of religion and the three (formal) conclusions of philosophy. The problem one encounters when reading these sections is that on the one hand they form a keystone of the Hegelian system, while on the other hand being only a skeleton which must be filled by the reader itself. In this sense, this paper aims on the one hand at carry out something conclusive about Hegel’s system, but on the other hand, at the same time, to indicate open paths in Hegel’s wake and exit.
